I think it's a reference to what happened to TRON/Rinzler at the end of Legacy; a double-entendre if you will. Tron would ascend from the depths of the Sea of Simulation, and then , once re-installed by Sam and re-coded by Alan for the current ENCOM server, he'd ascend in the sense of raising a revolution against MCP2.0.
I also read that TRON: Evolution was originally going to be called TRON:Ascension and there was a British game mag that had concept art on the cover. I'll see if I can find the link.

I could definitely see that happening in the sense and scope of the story. All of this could be happening while in the real world, Sam deals with Dillinger Jr in the company discovering Quorras secret, and attempting to use it for his own ends.
I feel like I had heard the title Ascension before this, as well.

I would love to see some references to TRON 2.0, despite its retcon. You would not need to change much, just have Laura not die and remove all mention of K. Flynn from ENCOM's email server following 1989. If both Bradley's had been digitized and Kevin Flynn had been digitized, it might have reinforced Alan's suspicions that Kevin wasn't dead... It would also be interesting if Sam Flynn and Jethro Bradley grew up together, since they were both born less than a year apart and both their fathers worked for ENCOM.

I was actually thinking that same thing with the Jet Bradley references, or perhaps cameo. Also, I've always had this suspicion that TRON 2.0 is secretly cameo still, as Alan really seemed to know something he didn't want to let on to the audience in the film. As if he had been digitized before, but didn't know how to tell Sam, so therefore lead him to discover it on his own.
My biggest thing I would like to see is a Live-Action Beck from Uprising to show up and help Sam against Dillinger Jr. His character arc was never fully resolved, and I would love to see what comes of him.

Seeing some more Digital World/Material World interaction would certainly be interesting; it is not like ENCOM still has a digitizing laser, but Sam might communicate with programs he is vaguely familiar with via some form of Command Prompt, sort of like a text-only RTS.

I don't think it's hard to imagine that after the events of Legacy, Sam moved the digitizing laser to a new place, outside of Flynn's. He had shown in Legacy that he's quite adept with computers, just like Dad.

True. But if Dillinger Jr. found the laser, he'd probably abuse it quite a bit; instead of going home at night, he'd hire somebody to drive his car and just infiltrate the system, pretending to be a program while he spied on everything Sam was working on.

That's true, but it would set up a great 3rd film. Not to mention it just wouldn't be TRON without digitizing shenanigans happening in the film. Real world stuff or not.

If the film ever gets resurrected, I hope they pick a good director and a good musician. If it were up to me, the directors/producers would be J. J. Abrams, and the music would be done by either Wolfgun or Perturbator. But as awesome as that would be for me, I am skeptical that everybody else would like the end result.
